Crespo, Bochan movie

In the Botchan movie there were many differences between small towns and city life. In the movie the mayor city that is mention is Tokyo which is where are main character is born and raised. Botchan is a math teacher, he is given a job in a small town far away from Tokyo. He is honest, straight- forward and enjoys the small things. When he gets there he is treated disrespectful and laugh at.
This is mostly because he is an outsider. This is a characteristic most small towns have, this is because people in small towns know about everyone and are accustomed to a way of living and an outsider may corrupt that way of life.
Another thing that happened to Botchan is that he had no privacy. Wherever he went people knew every little step he took. For example how the swimming in the hot springs was banned because of him swimming in it when no one was around.
But these are just of the characteristics of small towns. Another characteristic is how the smartest people hold more power, than people with money. In this case it was the vice-principal (red-shirt) , he was a cunning, vile and witty man who trampled on outsiders and even people on the town just to get amusement and for his own gain.
Another thing that is different is how problems are dealt in small towns. In the movie Botchan and Porcupine deal with the problem, not by calling the police but by beating up red-shirt and his accomplice and teaching them that justice always prevails one way or another.
The effects of the movie were pretty decent if you think about the time and the budget in which the movie was made. Also the characters showed some emotion, they were not completely plain.
The environment was basically the same there was no awesome background and the movie didn’t really pay too much attention to detail.
In my opinion it’s an enjoyable movie, with good story, you learn about how small towns and cities were back in the days, show you values and in some occasions it’s laughable.

Agustin, Ninja/Samurai Awesomeness

The movie, that I'm about to tell you is the best ninja & samurai film I have ever witnessed. This movie although it doesn’t take you to many places it has a great plot interesting and deep characters. The movie also tells you about how old Japanese customs were like and how power was very important and respected.

The movie is about a wondering samurai Jubei called who has left his master. He in some aspects is like a robin hood. We can see this when he takes back a sword that costs 300 and only takes 20 of the villagers.
Along the way Jubei saves a female ninja called Kagero who was about to be raped by the oni (ogre who rapes women etc.). After this Jubei is forced to work for a government spy when he is poisoned, because the government spy wants him to kill the Demons of Kimon to find out the reason for the disease and their purpose. And Kagero joins the group when her leader tells her to look for information regarding the shogun of darkness.

Little by little they destroy the 8 demons and get closer to the truth behind the disease and why the people in that area were tricked into leaving. Also Jubei discovers that the leader of the Devils of Kimon is a man he has killed before, because he betrayed Jubei.

In between all of this Jubei and Kagero begin to fall in love, but unfortunately Kagero poisons any man she sleeps with. So in a way it’s a forbidden love, and it also shows how strong women can be.
At the end of the movie Jubei is cured of the poison, but Kagero dies. And Jubei exacts his revenge against his rival Himuro, who was supposed to be dead.

Now let’s get to the analysis. This movie show how power in Japan was distributed in the old days. It also shows women in a position of power over men. Another thing is if the old man is a demon or human since he has weird powers like the 8 demons or Devils of Kimon. The last important detail I will share is how even though Ninja Scroll had a smaller budget compared to Akira. The effects were fluid, and visual effects were enjoyable to watch.

Crespo, The movie Akira

This was my first time seeing the movie Akira, my friends at home told me that I should see this movie becuse if not I wasn't considered an anime fan or otaku. The movie not looking at it deeply is exiting, has awesome special effects even better than some anime today, the plot is interesting and the ending is pretty interesting.
Now if you look at it more deeply it shows many issues concerning our world today.
One of the issues that the world has today that the movie shows is greed and corruption. This is shown when the government's top people is playing both sides of the coin and is betraying the government, and when his house is attacked he runs away with a bag of money and also shoots one of his employees.
The next issue we see is the biker gangs which shows one way young people of this city rebel, we see this when Kaneda and his gang are fighting another biker gang and causing mayhem and destruction throughout the city.

Also another way young people rebeld in the movie is making a strike, but the government tries to opress the people by hitting them, smoke grenades etc. This strike and when Tetsuo was kidnapped and experimented on are examples of hos freedom is taken away by the government.
Another thing that the movie show is how the environment is destroyed and science is taken as first priority and when I saw the movie I only saw like 2 trees and I wondered how do they breathe since there is no plant life to make oxygen. But oh well! There is also no clean water in the movie and garbage is everywhere.
Also another thing I forgot to mention is how power can change a person so badly that they don't recognize themselves. This happens to Tetsuo when he starts killing people for no reason, and also kills one of his biker friends in the bar they used to hang out. But that's not all he also changes physically in to a grotesque monster, which in the process kills the women he loves.

The final issue im going to discuss is the ending which is the same as the beginning what I interpreted about the ending is that it simbolizes the purification of the city. Also the water that is shown after the explosion emphasized the purification interpretation.

In other terms the movie in itself is a way to show the conflicts of modern society and how it could turn up if we arent careful and try to do things which mankind is not supposed to mess with.
