Crespo, Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D is a very entertaining movie, and not a film. The difference between these is that a movie is more entertainment, than a film that symbolizes something. For example Akira symbolizes postmodern changes, but Vampire Hunter D is purely entertainment.

Vampire Hunter D is about a dhampir called D. Being a dhampir means you are a half-breed child of a human mother and a vampire father. This also means that they are the best people for killing vampire since they have many of the same characteristics as pure vampires. One of these characteristics is that they more strength and kenner sences, and also they dont age.
D on this movie encounters a young girl named Doris who is bitten by a powerful vampire called Count Magnus Lee. She asks D for help in getting rid of the vampire in exchange for money and pleasures. D accepts, but doesn't accept any of the 2 things Doris is offering. After this Doris is captured and D has to rescue her from the Count and his daughter Lamica who is also a dhampir but is not aware of it. Fortunately D manages to rescue Doris but the Counts body guard, who is a mutant, manages to take Doris, so the Count can marry her and turn her into a vampire.
In the end however D, who is also the son of Dracula, manages to kill the count and save Doris from turning into the Count's bride.

Now I'm going to talk how this movie is similar to western movies. First, D enters the town in a horse, with a cowboy hat, and doesn't say much. Another thing is that he saves the damsel in distress and saves the town even though he won't receive any payment. There is also the landscape which is barren, the town is secluded and constantly attacked by evil beings like the vampire, werewolfs, and even people from the town are evil, like the doctor, who is a vampire, loyal to the count.

The Count

Finally the graphics. The graphics were not bad at all and the movie was made in 1985.Also the tiny battle scenes D has with the mutant bodyguard, the 3 snake sisters, the Count and demons were pretty fluid and bloody.
All in all the movie in my opinion was a mayor success and people should watch it. Especially if they are a vampire fan like myself.
